I like the photo just like it is! But since you asked, other things that you might try is to use photoshops blur tool to get rid of the grain. Or, you could add more grain/texture. I don't think you can ever just get rid of the grain to make it look like a straight shot. But what do I know. I'll bet there is some software out there somewhere that will do it! Have fun!

Great catch. The ultimate solution would be the software know as Noise Ninja. I know some sports and portrait photogs who swear by it.

Or: You can start by increasing the image size by about 1/3. (This buys pixels which you can safely toss out later, while maintaining image resolution.) Then gausian blur the entire image to reduce the noise on the subject as much as possible, while maintaining some modicum of focus. Then use the blur tool to blur the noise completely out of the background. Reduce the image to it's original size, then use your discretion with unsharp mask. I use a older version of photoshop (5.0), so there is probably an easier way.

Nice shot- cool title too. You caught perfectly the jist of the scene- his NY attitude. I am not sure I would change a thing.
